6.  The Ventura Social Services Task Force (VSSTF) includes representatives from City of Ventura staff, Ventura faith-based organizations, City and County service agencies, community volunteers, and many others, all working to end homelessness in the City of Ventura as part of the US-wide and County-wide coordinated effort, using the Recommendations in the "10-Year Strategy To End Homelessness for Ventura County" as a guide.   Here's a link to a good background video on ending homelessness by Peter Brown, Community Relations Manager, City of Ventura.  For more VSSTF info, please click here.

*  The 2009 Homeless Memorial Service was Sunday, December 20.  Click here for this year's poster.
*  Thursday, November 26, 2009 was The 2nd Annual One City Thanksgiving celebration!  Click here for the press release with all the info.  
*  A Council Candidates Forum was held October 1, 2009 to focus on the candidates views on solutions to homelessness and poverty within the City of Ventura. 
*  We prepared the River Haven site for U-Domes September 19, 2009;  Built and Installed U-Domes at River Haven September 26, 2009.
The "Safe Sleep" Community Meeting held September 3, 2009 discussed how best to implement a “Sleep Safe Program” for Ventura.
*  We had a booth at the Ventura Street Fair, July 4, 2009!
*  "One City, One Weekend, One Fund", February 14-16, 2009, was Ventura's first annual event to prevent homelessness.  Here's your chance to help eliminate homeliness by preventing it! 
*  Ventura County Homeless Count, Tuesday January 27, 2009.  Can you volunteer to help with the count, in the County or in the City?
*  Homeless Memorial Day, December 21, 2008, was Ventura's first annual memorial service for persons who died homeless this year.  This is the national obsersvance day.
*  Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2008, Ventura's first annual "One City, One Day, One Meal" celebration at the table.
