Heart On the weekend of February 14 - 16, 2009, Ventura  experienced the first annual

       "One City, One Weekend, One Fund"

event to prevent our neighbors from becoming homeless due to a financial emergency.  Click on the hearts for a press release.  Click on these highlights for:  a business poster, a flyer, a personal pledge form, a faith organization pledge form, or a business pledge form.

Who:     Everyone who lives in the City of Ventura  

What:    Tax-deductible donations and pledges to prevent homelessness by supporting the Ventura Homeless Prevention Fund (VHPF).

When:   Saturday February 14 (Valentine's Day) thru Monday February 16 (Presidents' Day), 2009.  

Where: Throughout the City of Ventura, capped with a recognition party from 1:00 - 3:00 PM Monday, February 16 (a US holiday) at My Florist, 76 South Oak Street, Ventura

Why:     To help our friends and neighbors who live "one paycheck away from the street" remain in their housing in spite of a financial emergency.  Click here for more information about how this fund helps.

How:      Just bring a donation, between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM on Monday 2/16, or
before Wednesday, February 12 mail a pledge or check payable to the "UWVC/VHPF" (United Way of Ventura County for the Ventura Homeless Prevention Fund) c/o Rev. Jan Christian, Unitarian Church of Ventura, 5654 Ralston Street, Ventura CA 93003.
